Licensing update 10 April 2015

Latest images available for Licensing

I continue to upload new images to PicFair and continue to be rewarded with Stars.

As explained in an earlier blog post, there appears to be some sort of moderation because you may receive an email stating that some of "your pics have been starred, because we really, really like them. Well done!" You don't need to remove those images that were not starred, but they do affect the number of images that you can upload. (It appears that you can upload more images if most or all your images receive the star as opposed to the number of images you can upload if none of your images are starred.)

The following are the four most recent of my images to have received that wonderful Star.

Sunset in Old Montreal

Sunset in Old Montreal

Notre Dame de Bonsecours Chapel silhouetted against the golden sky in Montreal's Old Port, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Camera: Panasonic DMC-FZ30; f/6.3 @ 1/400 sec; ISO 80; Focal length: 156mm (35mm equivalent)

The above photo was taken back in July 2007 using a Panasonic DMC-FZ30 ultra-zoom point and shot camera. It was one of those "being in the right place at the right time" moments. The sun had already set behind Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel and turned the sky to oranges and golds.

Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel (Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours means 'Our Lady of Good Help') is a church in the district of Old Montreal in Montreal, Quebec. One of the oldest churches in Montreal, it was built in 1771 over the ruins of an earlier chapel.

This image is available for sale on a number of online sites. Clicking on the above image will bring you to my www.photosbyhealy.com site where one could, if they so desired, purchase the above image as Fine Art, Canvas, Acrylic, Metal or Framed Prints. It can also be licensed on my PicFair site.

On my RedBubble site, besides Fine Art, Canvas and Framed prints, it is also available for sale as throw pillows, tote bags, iPhone/iPad/iPod cases and skins and mugs.

Yet another Licensing update

Licensing (con't)

Three weeks ago, I posted a second blog post talking about my entry into the world of image licensing. (See post dated 13 March 2015.) I mentioned in that post how I noticed a flurry of activity on one particular image very recently.

Abbey Lane
Abbey Lane

This was one of the first images I uploaded to the site. While the images I uploaded at the same time had on average eight views, the number of views this image had received had jumped to 46 in under two days! I had no idea why?
So it was a very pleasant surprise when I learned that an anonymous buyer licensed this image on 31 March 2015.

I wish to thank the buyer for licensing the image. As well as everyone who took the time to look at the image making it my most viewed image on PicFair.

Before I close, I'd like to show three more of my images that recently received that wonderful Star. (See 14 February 2015 post on Licensing)

Nova Scotia

The beauty of Nova Scotia

I have been lucky to visit Nova Scotia on five separate trips. And I've taken a photograph or three while there. Today, I thought I share a few (a very few) of those image.

Along the north shore on the Bay of Fundy you will find Margaretsville, a small community (population: 202) in Annapolis County

Continuing west along the Bay of Fundy shore and you'll come to Digby. A pretty town with an active harbour filled with fishing boats. And home to the best scallops you'll ever taste!

Cross the peninsular to Liverpool, then head east to Bridgewater. Then hang a right and head towards Lunenburg. Blue Rocks is about 6 minutes east (seaward) of Lunenburg. A quaint fishing village that has become very popular with artists and photographers.

Continue along Nova Scotia's Trunk 3 as it hugs the south shore past Saint Margaret's Bay until you reach Upper Tantallon and then turn right and head to Indian Harbour.

Continue eastward along the shore road and you arrive at Peggy's Cove, home of the World famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse originally built in 1868. And while most tourists focus on the lighthouse, the harbour at Peggy's cove is certainly one of the most picturesque in the Maritimes.

Attempt at licensing update

Licensing

About a month ago, I posted a blog post talking about my first entry into the world of image licensing. (See post dated 14 February 2015)

In the past month since joining PicFair, I've uploaded 53 images to the site. As I mentioned on my previous post, if the site's moderators really like your image, they award it a Star. You don't need to remove those images that were not starred, but they do affect the number of images that you can upload. So I decided to delete any image I upload that does not receive that coveted Star. This has resulted in the deletion of 21 images, leaving as of today (13 March 2015) 32 images on my PicFair page. Have not yet made my first Million doing this. In fact, haven't even made my first penny, but one must try. (Smile)

I did notice a flurry of activity on one particular image very recently.

This was one of the first images I uploaded to the site. While the images I uploaded at the same time have on average eight views, the number of views this image has received has jumped to 46! Almost 40 views in under two days! Have no idea why? But I do like knowing that one of my images has attracted the attention of a good number of viewers. My thanks to everyone who has taken the time to look at any of my images.

Before I close, I'd like to show three more of my images that recently received that wonderful Star.

Trying something new

Licensing

A friend recently brought to my attention a site that licenses photos. The site is called PicFair. You, the artist, upload your images to your account on the site, set your price to license the image and Wait. There appears to be some sort of moderation because you may receive an email stating that some of "your pics have been starred, because we really, really like them. Well done!"

You don't need to remove those images that were not starred, but they do affect the number of images that you can upload. (It appears that you can upload more images if most or all your images receive the star as opposed to the number of images you can upload if none of your images are starred.)

One of the reasons I do this blog is to increase the chance of one of my images showing up in searches. So you can expect me posting one or more images that I have available for licensing on PicFair.

All that being said, here are three starred images I have available for licensing of PicFair
